The owner and operator of the Site is SILAL FOOD AND TECHNOLOGY L.LC (“we”, “our” or “us”).References in these Privacy Policy to “Customer”, “you” or “User” (or similar) are references to you as an individual or legal entity as the case maybe. By using this Site, you agree to the collection, use and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy, and agree to the Terms of Use which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, please do not access, or use this Site.

We take our responsibilities regarding the protection of personal information very seriously. This policy explains:

1. Why we need your personal information

When you use this Site, you will be asked to provide certain information such as, without limitation, your name and contact details (referred to hereinafter in this Policy as Personal Information). We will store this information and hold it on computers, computerized storage centers or otherwise. We will use this information, by way of example and without limitation, in some and/or all the following ways:

b) to answer any queries which you may send to us by e-mail.

2. Why does Silal collect and use Personal Information?


Silal collects and uses your Personal Information for the following purposes:

a) to establish and maintain a responsible commercial and legal relationship with you.


b) where we have a legitimate interest, such as to provide you with our products and/or services.


c) for research and statistical purposes, to understand your needs as a customer and your eligibility for products and services;


d) to recommend particular products, services and opportunities to its customers.


e) to provide information to you about developments and new products.


f) to develop, enhance and market products and services and/or provide products and services to its customers.


g) to provide customer support.


h) to meet Silal’s legal and regulatory requirements.


i) to send you information, updates you have requested; and


j) to answer your questions in relation to the products and/or services we provide you or in relation to this Privacy Policy.


3. How long is your information retained?


We will retain your personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose it is being processed for or as long as the law requires. For example, when you contact us with a complaint, query, or other concern, we will retain your information as long as needed to respond to your query. We will periodically review the Personal Information we hold and delete it securely, or in some cases anonymize it, when there is no longer a legal, business, or consumer need for it to be retained. When we anonymize data, we may retain such data indefinitely without further notice to you.


4. To whom we disclose your Personal Information?


We do not sell or trade your Personal Information to third parties. We may share information about you as follows:If you are a customer, your personal data (including sensitive personal data) has been provided to us for the purposes of provide a simple and convenient service to consumers. You automatically authorize us to retain and/or use such data and to transmit to and/or to share it with: our own offices, our authorized agents, service providers, approved contractors, our other companies and/or brands, our affiliates, anyone to whom we transfer our rights and duties; third party companies offering related services (including, for example credit/debit card and other payment card companies, and other providers of such related services).


For all these purposes, The Site may provide its third-party service providers and processors with access to your Personal Information. These third-party service providers may be located outside the UAE. These service providers may include: credit/debit card verification providers, our data warehouse and customer relationship management center, marketing organizations, who may provide us support with marketing and promotional communications; internet service providers, cloud hosting companies who administer our web pages and provide internet services and host our facilities; third party companies offering related services, and consumer research companies that assist the Site with understanding consumer interests by conducting surveys. We may also disclose your Personal Information as permitted or required by law. For example, we may disclose personal information to those governmental bodies who have authority to obtain it, in order to comply with a warrant or subpoena issued by a court of competent jurisdiction, and to comply with record production requirements.


We undertake to collect, process, store, save and transfer your data in compliance with the applicable data protection legislation in force from time to time.


To anyone to whom we transfer or may transfer our rights and duties under our agreement with you.

If we have a duty to do so or if the law allows us to do so.

The Site has implemented safeguards to ensure that our service providers treat Personal Information in a way that is consistent with the terms of this Privacy Policy and that it is never used except to fulfil services to The Site.

5. Access to/correction & updating of Personal Information

If another entity acquires us or any of our assets, information we have collected about you may be transferred to such entity. In addition, if any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding is brought against us, such information may be considered an asset of ours and may be sold or transferred to third parties. Should such a sale or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to try to require that the transferee use Personal Information provided through this Site in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. We may also share aggregate, anonymous, or de-identified non-Personal Information with third parties for their marketing or analytics uses.

Sometimes SILAL may request your consent before processing your Personal Information. If so, the form of consent sought by SILAL may vary, depending upon the circumstances and the type of Personal Information processed. In determining the form of consent obtained from you, SILAL takes into account the sensitivity of the information and your reasonable expectations, so that you understand the nature, purpose and consequences of the collection, use and/or disclosure of your Personal Information. SILAL will always seek express consent when the Personal Information is likely to be considered sensitive. Sensitive Personal Information means information about an individual’s: race; ethnic origin; politics; religion; trade union membership; genetics; biometrics; or health.

Consent may be obtained in any one of the following ways:

a) an application form may be used to seek consent, collect Personal Information, and inform the User of the use that will be made of the Personal Information. By completing and signing the form, the User is giving consent to the collection and the specified uses.


b) a series of tick boxes may be used to allow the User to request that their names and addresses are not given to other organizations.


c) orally when information is collected over the telephone; or


d) at the time a Customer uses a product or service


You may withdraw your consent at any time, although if you do so, it does not mean that anything we have done with your Personal Information with your consent up to that point is unlawful. This includes your right to withdraw consent to us using your Personal Information for marketing purposes. 8. Security

When you use our Site or enter personally identifying information, your details are transmitted across the internet securely. We have implemented technology and security features to safeguard the privacy of your Personal Information. We also follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us to prevent unauthorized access should we be required to disclose sensitive information to you, we may request proof of identity in adherence with our security procedures before we are able to do so.

In the circumstances set out in this policy where the Site passes your information to a third party, we will ensure that the security measures that such party has in place in relation to the processing of your data are at least as stringent as those employed by the Site. This does not apply where we are required by law to pass your information to a third party.


9. Tracking Site usage


We use tracking software to monitor customer traffic patterns and Site usage and to gather certain information like the number and frequency of visitors to the Site. 12. Changes to the Privacy Policy


If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post the changes on our Site, so you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. This Privacy Policy may be amended by us from time to time and at our sole discretion. 16. Disputes, and the applicable law


This Privacy Policy and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applicable in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.


Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy, including any question regarding its existence, validity or termination, or the legal relationships established by it, shall be referred to and finally resolved by Abu Dhabi Courts.
